huwaaa Baler? I only have the Sigma 12-24mm and Tamron 28-75mm so I will have no luck going to Baler..

and I need the Photographers pass in Clark too since I don't have a telephoto currently. I have never seen the Balloon fiesta yet so I am pretty excited, I am just waiting where I could get the pass. at P1,000 with free P500 gas (last year), its a pretty good deal already.

I went twice and its the same things. Colorful balloons and swarm of humanity. Go there during the weekdays so you you dont get crammed in.

Hello mga kababayan, can any of you give advice as to where is it ideal to shoot scenes that convey social issues here in manila? The only place I can think of is Quiapo. Issues like poverty, pollution, crime, over population and some positive ones like resilience and Bayanihan is what I am looking for.

as far as I could tell.. Quiapo, Divisoria and areas near Pier, Moriones too.

those are fantastic areas to shoot street photography, just be careful.

thanks monk3y. Yeah security is an issue, but I will be shooting with my classmates as this is a project for our social studies class. Whats in Pier Moriones? Divi is surely a place to visit.

I think you will find all you need in Divisoria and Quiapo but just in case you need more, go to Moriones near Tondo Church or Pier Area...

there lots of porters pushing carts carrying heavy loads etc. that depicts hard work, manual labor, thieves grabbing something from passing trucks etc. again just be careful.

yeap, I used to live near Tutuban, and I walk towards Divisoria daily to ride an FX to Taft.

Quiapo and Divisoria are fairly safe, there are pickpocketers but as long as you are alert.. its ok.

just be careful in areas that have very few people. that's where holdups and robbery usually occurs, so yeah going there in groups is a good idea.

another good area to consider is Baclaran

When you do photography with the poor please keep in mind to compensate them. Treat them like models.

@dolina: Yes I do compensate them, not with money but with food. I usually give each a pack of bread and some water when I do picture our less fortunate brethren.
