SanDisk Extreme IV - Even faster CF cards

$200 for a 2Gb card and reader sounds expensive but when the reader (using 2 firewire connections) gives you a read speed of close to 40 MB/s some people will I'm sure jump all over it.

The Extreme IV in 4Gb with the firewire reader can be had for ~$300. I know I'll eventually pick up the pair. Did you realize it also comes with the full version of CS2? Even though I already have CS2, it is a nice addition to the package. (also, for those that don't already know, All Sandisks Extreme CF cards come with RESCUE Pro. I've used it to help others out. Works great)

First you actually go to Sandisk's website. http://www.sandisk.com …reWire_Reader_B​undle.aspx

to see what comes in the bundle.

Then you take the the product code and search for it.. Hopefully you can at least do that JaGWiRE ( Ha Ha).

And you'll find that Amazon carries the bundle for 308.99 or as I said. ~$300.00

IPACMM, You could be right. Might be a limited version in some way, Then again, Adobe has bundled it's some of it's pro products in the past, and with CS3 scheduled to hit the market in 2007, bundling CS2 with a professionally destined product wouldn't begin to hurt there bottom line.

As usual, this forum provides quite a bit of amusement for me.

Rest assured, Adobe is giving NOTHING away for free; it is merely a trial version.

The Extreme IV and the firewire reader is another story. The speed blows away anything I've had heretofore.

If the speed with their firewire reader is that good, I may have to get the bundle sooner instead of later.

Forget the "if" it's faster, Ken. It is close to twice as fast as my Sandisk USB 2.0 reader.

My 1DSMKII writes to the Extreme IV card -- or should I say clears the buffer completely, in 9.5 seconds (when the buffer is filled with a burst of raw) as opposed to 14 seconds with the Extreme III card.

When I read in a full 4 gb card, the Extreme IV read in close to a minute and a half faster than the Extreme III on the firewire, meaning 3 minutes as opposed to 4:30, give or take.

The USB 2.0 reader took close to 8 minutes.

This translates, in my humble opinion, to a very worthwhile investment as I hate to wait for anything to finish.

I don't think companies are that stupid. If you try to re-install the 30 day trial it will not let you.

Nah, he was just kidding. He was saying spend the 300 ever 30 days on a new firewire reader and card, and then you'd get the new 30 day trial each time.

After I just read that, I ordered the CF firewire reader... now I just have to decide if I should pick up the 4GB or 8GB Extreme IV card.
