Not really the best way to check tyres, but this shot did give me quite an unusual picture angle, I hope it works.

Great angles on the shots, but #2 seems a bit underexposed, but that could be my screen. Motion is also good too.

There is such a lot of bul---- on this forum. Its supposed to be about improving photography. There is no motion in this at all . They are sharp, reasonably well exposed but NO motion. There is no back ground to judge motion against. There is posture true, but the wheels couldn't be stiller. Any one with a digital can choose a a high shutter speed and achieve these results. Sorry its hard I know but its not motion photography and it doesnt show the excitement of what is happening. It could and should have been panned witha sloweer shutter speed. Ever seen the shot of a helicopter in mid air with the blades frozen. We all know if that were the case it wouldn't be up there. If we all just want a pat on the back then lets get it some where right , If we want to learn to make better images then lets not get defensive.

Thats my bit , no offense intended.

Some good points, but he didn't ask for a brutal, or any CC & I don't think that "tone of voice" is called for? We get all levels of experience here. The idea is to give some useful help when we can. And if you're having a bad day, then cool it 'till you're feeling better?

FYI i wasnt saying that he had good motion in the photo, rather that motion itself in photos is good to have. Sorry if i didnt communicate that very well.

Sorry

My appologies for the tone, I just think that telling someone they have a good image when they havent, or it could be improved greatly isn't helpful.

The great MX photographer Simon Cudby and many other make a living taking theses kinds of photos. and people ooh and ahh over them. But your right, having wheels spinning is what makes the photo. Like this example I added, shows he used the back brake to change the angle of the bike in order to land on the downside of the tabletop. If its shot like most people would shoot it, who would know what he was doing in mid-air??

If these were racing shots I'd agree that motion blur was important. But in this paritcular sport, the goal is to strike a pose in the air. This is not racing, and it is not about going fast. Speed here is tertiary. The sharp, frozen look adds a bit of surrealism that I think is appropriate and desirable.
