LOL! That is expensive. More of a collector's item than a glass someone would use.

 Who on earth would buy this, when the new 50 1.2 is imminently available?

That is silly money IMO

I can see it being a "must have" for somebody, but not at that price. Especially with the 1.2 on its way. I suspect that these will drop considerably in price over the next couple of months (though they should have already IMHO).

Actually, I hear this lens wasn't popular b/c it was too soft.

I remember somebody having access to the 50 f/1.2 in a thread not too long ago...to be honest, the wide open results were kind of dissapointing

For some people it's a must have, even at that price. When used well its an amazing lens. Spent a few years looking for one, you dont see them for sale very often. I seem to remember that Mark Tucker (external link)has one so may be worth having a look at.

all the best

Some of those shots on that Mark Tucker site are spectacular. I'm not sure that even a $4,000 lens could make my shots that good, but I was blown away by some of his portraits.

Very nice pics of the gear on the ebay site. It is refreshing to see someone put time and attention to detail into their product photography. Especially so since the guy is a photog to begin with :P
