Discussing collectibles market is not like talking cost benefits of the 70-200 f/2.8 IS vs. non-IS.
That market will continue strong I reckon, unabated by the advent of any other seemingly competitive lens. Right....simply because the lens is scarce and very expensive. The pricier, the more desireable the lens becomes......that's generally the way that market works.

I have seen relatively often some owners advancing their photography rationale for owning the lens. Some rationale is relatively logical, others are as plausible as my walk around gear ID.

I think one of the major reason for owning the lens is to be able to say you have it.;) Which I have no quarrel with.

Ok and that relates to this topic how? Are you trying not to mention the 50mm 1.2?

Actually i think the market works the other way, the more desireable the lens is the more expensive it becomes.

Ok so people make good and bad arguments for owning lenses.

So you dont mind people having lenses just for the sake of having them.

Well, I am glad to see that you could add so much to this topic :p

all the best

Did anyone happen to notice that this guy is selling "two" of these lenses. One is EX+ and one LKnew with pictures of the same lens in each description. Also it seems strange to me that there is no head on front view of the lens but only a head on view of the rear element.

That's good, so the 50 f/1.2 is starting to percolate to the stores.
Oh come to papa, you chubby little red necked piggy !
Sixteen L's will sound so sweetly, almost as sweetly as whimpering of Dante King, the ex-coLLector extraordinaire, the putative "master of L virus".
