Here is my 1st HDR attempt. It is a picture of Babcock State Park not far from my home in West Virginia. This is a very photographed grist mill, I literally had to stand in line to take this picture. I hope you like it!

I'd be tempted to crop just above the plants and rock on the left, leaving the rapids as your lead in. What program did you use for to create the HDR? - 5D & 60D (x2), EFS 10-22, EF 17-40L, EF 50 f1.4, EF 24-105L, EF 100-400 L IS

sugarzebra Cream of the Crop More info | Oct 24, 2006 16:58 | #3 I'm not an HDR expert so cant comment on the technical details but its a very nice shot that certainly could be printed. I would perhaps remove the branch in the top left corner. Scott

Yes, I should have cropped the branch out before I posted, but I just forgot! Thanks for the comments! JT I used the free version of Photomatrix here is the web site: http://www.hdrsoft.com/ http://www.pbase.com/keith_withrow

Looks nice _ you need to use a photo hosting site so you don't loose any detail. There are several free ones available that will allow you to direct link the image.

So you cloned out the "PHOTOMATIX" watermarks?? - 5D & 60D (x2), EFS 10-22, EF 17-40L, EF 50 f1.4, EF 24-105L, EF 100-400 L IS

It is not as advanced as the pay version but its not to bad. http://www.pbase.com/keith_withrow

StefanA "The D is supposed to be where the S is!" More info | Oct 24, 2006 19:34 | #9 Great shot. I am pretty sure that is the same mill I have had hanging on my wall for years. I bought it at a craft show way before I ever got into photography. It is also featured on this year's AAA mid-Atlantic guidebook. Quite popular. If you check out my photo album, I have a section with gristmills. 80D, Canon 17-55mm f/2.8, Canon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6, Canon 50mm f/1.4, Canon 70-200mm F/4L,Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6, Kenko 1.4 TC, Canon 580 exII Speedlite, ebay wireless trigger, Genesis 3 light kit

You need to shoot at +/- 2 stops for the dynamic range. Bluedog, do you recommend shooting each frame +-2 stops or a total of 2 stops +- at 1/3rd stop increments? Marion Greenlee

That way it'll take 3 exposures: one photo -2 stops, one 0 stop (middle) and one +2 stops. And of course a tripod is highly recommended.
