Hi all.

Title kind of says it all. Bought one, trying to do rebate on it in UK and can't find the serial. Now wondering if I have a grey import or something, despite buying from reputable source in UK.

Anyone that can shed some light on this (no pun) would be appreciated. There is no sticker/bar code with serial on box like with lens and camera.

Probably it's the one at the bottom of the flash head. That's the only one that I found which even looks like a serial number.

There's a number stamped on the head itself. But for the purposes of a cashback claim, don't worry about it - just cut out the barcode that's on the boxes and send that in ...we had no problems claiming this way a year ago for our 430 and 580.

The number stamped on the bottom of the flash head is the serial number. It agrees with the number on the warranty card on mine.

Thanks.

I did see that stamped on it but didn't know whether it was a serial number or just a part number. Oh well, filled the form out using that so hopefully it will all be ok.

Cheers again.

Memory not totally reliable (due to age!) but I've got a feeling that a year ago when we selected Speedlite as the product on the cashback website pages the serial number field became blanked out anyway ...perhaps things have changed?

MY memory is bad as well, but I agree I don't think you need a serial number for 580 EX for rebate.

When entering the details in the online form, the Serial Number field is actually mandatory and you have to enter it twice.

I ended up using the number from on the flash head and I think that with the receipt and bar code they can be pretty sure I am not trying it on!!!

Thanks again folks.

Yes, thats correct. No serial number needed back then. i imagine its the same this time but maybe not
Check the small print around the tick boxes.

Im also thinking of getting a 580EX, maybe from onestop-digital. does anyone know if i would be able to use the rebate as they are based in HK i think.
Ive worked it out that if not it would be the same price as Warehouse Express (with the rebate) so would get it from them instead.
Cheers

I asked Onestop about this before and they say that the rebate cannot be claimed on purchases from them. Why don't you go to Kerso? He's as close to their prices as anyone in the UK.
