That's about the price for the f/2.8, right? I'd pay a little more for IS, but not more than double the original price! Chris | My Flickr

RonaldS.Jr. Prodigal "Brick" Layer More info | Oct 26, 2006 22:26 | #4 It has 4-stop correction IS, fluorite elements, weathersealing, and reportedly improved IQ (or so I've heard). It's as "worth it" as any lens is. The 2.8 IS version is 700 more than the non-IS. No one gripes about that. Mac users swear by their computers. PC users swear at theirs.

CoolToolGuy THREAD STARTER Boosting Ruler Sales 4,175 posts Joined Aug 2003 Location: Maryland, USA More info | I think some of the negative response to the 70-200 f4L IS has to do with the non-IS version being such a bargain. It (non-IS) has always been a slam-dunk recommendation, and to see the IS version living in the price neighborhood of the 2.8 can be a shock. Over time the new lens will find its place, but I don't think it will sell as well as some thought. Rick
