Last night I formatted my 2 GB CF card.

This morning I took three pics at a jobsite. During shooting I saw each pic show up on the LCD.

Tonight I attempted to download to computer and received the following message: "There are no images in the memory or camera that match download conditions".

Attempted to scroll through the "ghost" pics on the LCD - there were none.

Oh well, I said, might as well take a shot of the computer monitor to see what's happened to my camera. Took two shots. Everything is OK, but the first three pics taken this morning are not there, only the monitor pics. And the two shots of the computer monitor are gone.

THEN, I formatted the CF card.

Then, I took a pic of the white wall to do my routine check for sensor dust spots, and then downloaded this ONE picture to the computer to check for dust.

HELLO?? There are four pictures being downloaded - the three I took this morning (and should have been gone since I formatted the CF card), plus the picture of the white wall (with two small dust spots).

Checked the LCD screen and there is only one pic - of the dust spots.

Formatted the CF card.

Attempted to download the pics again; "There are no images in the memory or camera that match download conditions".

Formatted the CF card again.

Now there are no images.

The battery was fully charged over night.

I updated the firmware yesterday to 1.05.

Any ideas on this strange behaviour? Other than the firmware update?

Or is it the firmware update? I saved the version 1.04 firmware on my HDD, so I should be able to re-install 1.04.

Sounds like the problem I had with my girlfriends 30d.

Are you shooting RAW? If so, whatever program you're using to display and convert them needs to be updated. That will fix your problem.

If you're not using RAW, I don't know.

Johnny G:

Yes, I'm using RAW.

And since you mention it, after I posted the above, I formatted again and took some more shots. Got the same message about no images, but when I opened Zoombrowser the pics that it could not find were there!!

Creepy. Perhaps an uninstall of ZB and DPP is in order. I'll try that before I revert to firmware 1.04.

Thanks for replying - I feel quite a bit better now.

How did you trasfer your images to the computer?

Buy yourself a fast USB 2.0 cardreader and your problems are over.

Good luck.

Hi,

Was the camera behaving itself before you updated the firmware? If it wasn't, it could be this that's the problem.

There's something definitley wrong with your camera now. There should be no way a program like ZoomBrowser can display images that have been deleted from a card by formatting the card short of using a recovery program first. And if it's not hte camera, then it could be the card itself.

I transferred the images with a fast USB 2.0 connection: Athlon 64x2 4200 - 939 pin, ASUS A8V-E SE, VIA K8T890, 4 x 512 (2GB) Kingston DDR SDRAM, 250 G Maxtor HDD.

I thought the camera was behaving itself after updating the firmware, now I'm not so sure. Haven't done anything since last night, so the first step is some more testing, then re-install Zoombrowser, and if no luck, reverting to firmware 1.04.

Thanks for all the suggestions, particularly the quick replies - I live in the Pacific time zone and most of you in North America should have been in bed when I first posted, but I even got a reponse last night from a Texas night owl - Johnny G.
