Hi

Going to Lydden Hill on Saturday to both Sprint the F3 car but also take some snaps whilst I'm there. Where is the 'togs vantage point of choice?

Andrew

Anywhere really. Lydden is blissfully free of debris fences and other annoyances and there are useable angles round the whole circuit. Here are some examples from last year's SEMSEC meeting in July http://gallery.ukmotorsportpics.com/c620779_1.html (external link)

Thats good to know.

Its another early start, so early we're going the night before. This time we get 2.75 laps for practise and 1.75 laps for the timed runs. Will be taking a new set of wets (forecast says it will rain). This is likely to be the last event of the season.

Over the winter the F3 engine will be removed and replaced with a more standard production engine (ironically which will be more powerful as won't have the mandatory F3 restrictor) running on carbs with the intention to enter it into some Monoposto events.

In your case wouldn't it be right on the nose of the car?
Strap the camera to the nose with a bit of 100mph tape, tape down the shutter button in high speed drive, and go for it up the hill :D :D :D :D :D

So long and thanks for all the flash

I was hoping to get a decent video camera on the car to record our attempts, but the one we wanted was out of stock until today. The recorder we want is a small device that encodes in near dvd mpeg 2 quality directly onto a high speed CF card. As its solid state there should be less of a problem with vibrations.

I realise I'm too late, but if you stand by the devil's elbow you can get shots right on top of the bike/cars as they turn left to go up the hill.

You can get nicely close to the track though, got any of the pics you took?

Didn't get round to the Devil's Elbow I'm afraid.
