So I bought this as a walk-around until it's fixed...

Can't wait to have a play with it.

Sorry to hear that your 24-105 needs to be fixed. What is the problem?
I have both lenses and they are great...

Good luck.

The AF failed on it. It's being fixed under warranty. I always wanted a good bokeh mid-short range lens anyway...

Thanks, and I am. Already giving great results just from shots in the office and chimping.

The above picture was taken with my mobile phone by the way. The 1.4 isn't quite THAT bad!! ;)

By the way, you have to use your legs to zoom with the 50mm :-) I'm thinking of getting one myself for low-light work...

Actually, this is a great companion to the 24-105L. You won't be sorry you own it. The bokeh is fabulous and the speed/DOF is fantastic too. Sometimes I wonder why people (including myself until I gave myself a good talking to) would want the 50 f/1.2L for so much MORE money when this lens is really hot for the $.

I'm now officially loving the 50mm. It's gorgeously sharp - I hardly have to apply any USM at all!!!

Just awesome. And these are only my first shots with it...!
