So I'll give a slight introduction.

I'm Chris, i'm 24 yrs old, and I reside in Bel Air, MD, USA. I'm pretty much love photography, and get out to shoot whenever I can. I don't think I'm very good, but my friends tell me other wise!

Anyway, I shoot a couple different cameras. A Canon Rebel G2 35mm SLR, a Canon Digital EOS D30, D60, and I just aquired a Rebel XT.

I've come here looking for knowledge, and technique, as well as technical help, and even some critquing of my photos!

So, in short, hello! :)

Thanks for the welcome! SaraVRose, do you like the Tamron lense, the 17-50? I've been told to check out the 28-75 they sell, but I've never used their lenses before...

now.. thats the way to a girls heart... asking about her glass..... ;) ;) .. in answer yes. I'm loving the tammy allthough it's fairly new to me.. It's shown itself to be fast have beautiful color lovely bokeh... really nice and accurate focus and sharp as a tack... now I was within an hour of the 28-75 myself until this wider version was pointed out to me... (I owe a member coffee)... I don't think you'd do poorly with either one.. but that 17mm gives me a whole new insight into landscape compositions.. up until now i've been stumbling along with the kit.. which is right now being used as a paperweight... good luck and let us know what you decide.. seriously silly hobby around here.. trying to keep up with everybody's kit....

Thanks for the quick response!

Do you have any sample images of the kit v. the Tam? I'm interested to see the difference :)

My favorite lens to shoot with right now, because I do mostly just walking around, shooting random stuff, or shooting at carshows(brr, its cold here in MD!) is my Canon 50mm F1.8

I have shots with the kit and with the Tammy but not comparisons I haven't really bothered to pixel peep or do side by side comparisons.... But I do have some free time tomorrow and was planning on doing the photo day challenge.. I could probably drag the kit along and do some side by side shots... but if what your after is just examples of both there are a few threads in the EF lenses area that could supply you with the information.... I'm unfortunately on my work computer right now but I can post some shots when I get home....

Welcome Chris!! We hope you have as much fun here as the rest of us.

BTW, I LOVE my Tamron 28-75 lens. It is sharp as a tack and fast, too!

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.
