Here's a question....

Take Sigma and some of the other big independent lens manufacturers.

Using Sigma as an example, they make some cracking telephoto lenses and telephoto zoom lenses. The 120-300 is fabulous, the 300 prime is very good as is the 500 4.5.:D

So, therefore, I ask the question..............

Why don't Sigma do a fast 400mm prime lens - say F2.8? :confused:

(you get the general background to this, I want a 400mm 2.8L but can't afford one!):lol:

I'd be interested in your thoughts on this!!

I would think it has to do with supply and demand. It would not be cost effective for them to do so. Plus it would not be cheap, at least at first.

LOL! Actually, economies of scale and R&D are the correct answers. ;) Mine was more of the loose broad answer. I love their EX series lenses. If you can get them to feel sorry for you... it might work.

The ex lenses are fabulous - loving the 120-300 at the moment............

Suppose I could always buy a 1.4 tc and just stop moaning! :lol:
