Hi All...

This is my first post in this section. All these images were shot at Huntington Beach California using Canon S3 IS. I know these are way below professional standards but am hoping for some comments to improve myself. The exif info for every image is on the image border.

2. Processed Version of above

Comments and suggestions are more than welcome.
Thanks a lot for looking.

I really like 1 & 3. I'm not sure why, but I prefer number 1 over 2. I think number 2 looks a bit more like very early morning light, rather than a sunset.

I wish I could give better, more useful comments but I'm pretty much a newbie here too and trying my best to pick up info from the wise ones.

Have a look at Dimitri's gallery, I've got it bookmarked for inspiration....

I like the last one (the sun is too central in the others), although the image is a bit soft (due to slow shutter speed?)

The last one would have been my fav, but the pier is a bit too soft. Are you using a tripod?

#3 has a nice feel, i really like the tones. Only problem for me is that the gul is facing the border. As the gul is the focal point, that kinda forces my eye out of the shot rather than into it. ;)

Although i like the sky in both 1 & 2, i think it's ruining the composition and could do with cropping.

Just my opinion, and believe me... I'm no where near pro standard! :D

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

I'll have to agree with the others, nice pictures. The first and last pictures are probably the ones I like the most.

I'm no pro myself, and by coming to this forums site and asking questions, etc., I have already learned lots. Oh, and just because you don't have a SLR type camera, doesn't mean you can't take great pictures. Yes, it helps, but it's the photographer behind the camera that uses his/her skills (advanced or not) to produce the wonderful pictures.

I like to think of a camera as a copier of sorts. You are using the camera to recreat, as best you can at that moment, the picture/image you invision in your minds eye (ouch, that last thought hurt...hehe) :)
