Not been out for what seems like an age, but I at last have some time to scan through some pitures taken recently.

It ended up being a dark day, but doing another scan of the pictures I took that day, I found this one. I think this is the river skirfare, which eventually joins the Wharfe in Buckden. 5D, 17-40, Nd grad.

Nice and moody sky Neil, and I like the colour of the water too.

Nice shot Neil.
A lot of water about at the moment and the motion you have recorded
just shows its power.

Lovely shot Neil, made the absolute best in adverse conditions.

Lost a little quality in compression, especially the sky/land contrast lines.

Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p

Thanks Les, it was dark and I had to up the ISO a little to get the speed right in the water, I didn't want totally blurred as I was trying to keep some force in the water. So I used noise ninja to reduce a bit of noise but I am not totally happy when using noise reducers as the effect can be worse than the noise itself on areas such as sky.

Thanks for the comments. I waited patiently for the sun as it was a windy day but had to give up as shortly after as it rained....and rained.....and rained.... :)

Great shot Neil

You seem to be getting those cloudy days I'm getting used to, nowt wrong with that if you can capture the mood of the scene which you've done excellently :)

Great shot as always Neil. Your skies are always very moody and this is no exception.

I hate days when the sky is grey and bland and you have to compose shots without it. Of course there are other things to photograph but i like skies with character :) even if it means getting wet.

Cheers guys, comments are appreciated.

Ps - the 5D tells me what to do, I am just a caddy really ;)

Perfect choice of shutter speed for me - movement plus detail! And that gorgeous Tetley-coloured water that Les raves about when he comes up here. "Eee, this Scottish water is far too white!"

Well, the technique worked. The water really stands out strong to me in this one. Everything looks great...the water, the sky, the plush greens, and even the obligatory Scottish rock wall. ;)
