We got snowed in today, so I managed to get my wife to don her costume and pose for a few shots. C&C welcome, I'm having some issues getting the lighting right and I can't seem to figure it out.

I had light falloff in the second shot and her hair is a bit in her face but I still liked the shot. Anyway, C&C welcome. :)

Your wife is a good sport and a good model. She has pretty hair, and it shows well in the second shot.

I guess I'll never know what to do if I get snowed in here in Florida. I don't think my wife has any costumes. ;)

I can't help with the lighting. . . they both look fine to me.

I like the first one, the light fall-off in the second one isn't really to my own tastes :) I do find it a little distracting how the bottom of her black dress disappears into the background - perhaps a tiny bit of lighting to highlight the edge there? I've never even tried to light anything outside of a flash and home lights so I don't know if that's a good suggestion or not :p

Pose and lighting otherwise I think work really well in the first one. :) I like how your eyes are drawn to her face because it's that little bit brighter.

Both are good shots. I favor the second because of the closer view of her face. Beautiful wife, by the way. And she poses very well.

jt, is she wearing black leggings or shorts? on the first on it looks like the black dress goes all the way to the stocking top, but i would bet there is bare back of thigh there. maybe a little backlight? i think she should always be the queen of hearts!! she's a beaut, love the smirk in the first one!

On the second photo, it looks a little strange where her left (our right) arm burns out at the elbow. Other than that, good use of your time :) Nice shots.

I love them. I saw a potential for an outstanding presentation to the one and hope it gives you inspiration.

No offense, but this is the web. How does making an image smaller and accentuating a border rather than content outstanding presentation. No this is just my opinion and question.

With so much black, it helps set her off. It's a professional style a lot of amateurs don't know about. The key is the thin accent line using a color selected from the image.

Thanks for the comments. If you get snow in FL I think we may all be doomed, haha. I just got lucky that Halloween is right around the corner.

She is truly remarkable! I love her dearly and the session didn't last all that long ;)

I was pretty disappointed with the light falloff. I, unfortunately, didn't notice until after the session so I had to deal with it. As far as the dress blending, I really should have used a white BG instead of black, maybe next time.

Thanks, it was one of my favorite closer shots that I took.

I wish that the light would have fallen a bit different that it did, especially on the backside of her. I was having trouble getting the lighting ratios right. Try, try again I guess :). Thanks for the compliments, she is the most beautiful woman in the world to me.

We both enjoyed the shoot, and as I mentioned before the light falloff on the second shot is really bothersome to me but nothing I can do about it now. Hopefully next time I'll get it right. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks, I like the presentation, almost gives it a framed and matted look, but I think it's a bit much black.
