These were taken with the 5D, the tamron 90mm macro (yes, it was an unconventional test of this lens to see how it shot something besides macro) at f2.8. (I'm quite shocked at this little lens...I've never used anything but my 24-105L or my 17-40L to shoot landscapes before and after today, I think I've missed out...) C&C always welcome.

Very interesting.

So little money? Hey umm... that macro is MORE expensive than the Canon 100 macro with USM, FTM, internal focusing, and then some!

Nice leaf shots!

No it's an autofocus but Tamron just released a new version (last year I think or early this year) for digital lenses and the "old" version I bought for $249 incl. shipping on ebay.

edit: the new version is the SP DI.

Ah...btw, ebay is a great place to buy this lens. For me, including shipping and everything, total cost of ownership is $90 cheaper than the 100 macro from B&H. For new lenses.

DANG IT.... I would love one that mounts on my FF cameras.. but I don't want to sell my favorite 60 macro :( (and I shouldn't keep so much glass around on standby)

Well, I don't have the 60mm...and I'm really sold on this lens. I shot in RAW and adjusted levels & exposure on these...as a rule, when can you get away with that? I am always adjusting saturation/colors/sharpness....

For the record, this used lens is the cheapest in my arsenal and shot equal to some 1K+ lenses...better, if you consider the lack of PP and the lack of a polarizer...

Taking lessons from CalicoSalesKat, you have? :p ("How to Sell to Lightstream the Sucker" :D)

I am a BIG fan of shoot-it-right-straight-out-of-the-cam. Will tinker with images only when absolutely necessary for 'production' use (ie. not for filing in my archive). Ooooooh.. tempt me you do...

Speaking of which, haven't seen him around much lately. Hope he is ok...

Sorry Yoda, I'm not trying to sell you my lens...(but it is worth the $ and if you knew me, you'd know I rarely say that). Often I'll spend the $ but I won't often say that it was worth what I paid :p

It might be more interesting than a 85/1.8, because it would be a dual role lens. Hmm...need to be persuaded to give up 60 macro. :p

The 60 has USM/FTM and internal focusing though, so that's what makes it special.

For $245 I wouldn't think twice. It's $390 new, shipped to my doorstep.

Hmm..

It's very interesting because the 90mm is particularly light, 405gm compared to 600gm for the 100 macro. This was one of my concerns, I want something small and light (because it will never travel alone, but rather with lots of other gear). The 60mm is 335gm. And performance as recorded by Photozone.de is superb.
