28-300 mm lenses

I am getting so tired of changing out my 28-90 and 70-300 general purpose lenses. I have read the the Sigma and Tamron 28-300 lenses are slow to focus? Does anyone have either and what are your recommendations. Thanks!

I have the sigma and I would say pass on this lens. It does focus slow and "hunts" alot. Image quality is't that great either. Buy a sigma 70-200 f2.8 instead.

Anyone on the Tamron?

I own a tamron 28-300af xr di. I find it a good walk round lens and my copy is NOT slow to focus at all, pretty quick actually. Certainly (in low light) as fast as my canon 70-200L F/4 . I have used it on my 30D and Rebel xt.
