Man now that's what I call a poll! I got half way down, got confused, started again...no use I just gave up! I mean what's the point..really! Just buy the lens that you most think will suit your photographic needs, if you don't like it, return it. Simple :)

i clicked the first box and then scrolled down and found another box that was more appropriate :D .

first.... i think you should just take the 28-70 off the list, since the 24-70 excels past it in every way. then it just comes down to the 24-105 and 24-70, which has been argued to death, and comes down to, if you need the 2.8, and dont mind the weight, go with the 24-70. if you dont need 2.8, would like IS and a better range, and laighter wieght, go with the 24-105.

i agree mostly but i think a bigger issue than weight is bokeh and i'm not talking about the difference between f2.8 and f4 but the quality of bokeh.

the 24-70L has much better bokeh than the 24-105L, which may not be important to most who use the 24-105L as a walkaround lens.

weightwise, the 24-105L is .6 lbs lighter but it is still a heavy lens. and after having used both for extended amounts of time i think the weight difference is a minor issue -- they are both heavy.

hahahahaha that's the funniest poll I've ever seen. I'm looking into a midrange for my next zoom too but wow, that's complicated

Trying to decide which lens, would appreciate your response.

Just wondering how you are going to do this from the poll - are you going to buy the lens with the most votes? ???

No lens will do it all. What ever lens you buy, you will have times when you wish you had the other one.

this is how i think about it too.

My buddy uses the older 28-70L(owned since new) and I really like this lens, had this lens still been available I likely would have purchased it. It was sold for a short bit along side the new 24-70L. Since the 28-70L was a ~$900 lens new, I gladly would have saved a few bucks and forgone the weather seal and 4mm on the wide end, for the $200-300 savings.

As is the 24-70L was the only lens available new when I ordered mine last year during the rebate period.

I don't think your poll has a category that fits my situation - I have both the 28-70 f2.8L and the 24-105 f4L IS. I've owned the former for several years and the latter for several months. I never saw the need to "upgrade" to the 24-70 f2.8L as the 28-70 serves my needs just fine. I bought the 24-105 for a specific purpose (fair and festival photography) for its lighter weight, longer reach, and the IS. Two different lenses for two different purposes.
