Light shocking. Set up in manual mode on my MKII N @ 2.8 with ISO @ 1600 only getting shutter speeds of 1/50th. I am thinking what the hell is this lighting all about. Thats not right. 5 minutes later I remember thay my rear fitting polarizer is still in my 300mm 2.8. after last weekends Beach Moto X event. Laugh, I nearly cried. Sorted. Still only getting 1/320th at a push so choose to underexpose, go to 1/500th and PP with a slight levels tweak. Then the lights go up a touch But happy with exposure so I leave it as set.

An essentially dull game with Newport Gwent dominating the second half with Bristol looking average with Perry taken off at half time. Still, they won and the crowd went home happy.

Here are some images, enjoy. The usual variables apply. You know sit down set up stall and the action goes to the other end or when it comes back the ref ruins your killer shot! Apologies for the copyright this time. As I said Perry is the big name in Rugger at the moment and would not want some machavelian type pinching my images now would I! (ps Titan Images is my little company).

Perry releases the ball.

Perry dishes out the orders on pitch.

I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

Hi Pete ,

Nice pics mate under that lighting .

Question if you don't mind: the rear fitting polarisng filter how does it work in the 300mm ,how do you turn it .And finally is it a canon filter .

Thanks
Roy

Thanks Roy. Believe it or not, I use the Sigma 300mm 2.8 as I had a couple of ropey Canon versions, I decided to return them and spend less on the Sigma which is superb. Very fast, spot on colour and sharpness. I cannot recommend it enough, especially with an Mark II N of which I am fortunate enough to own a couple.

The rear filters slip into an opening on the top of the lens which is sealed.

My next long buy will be a 400mm 2.8 once I get some cash in :) - though Sigma do not do this. I like the fact it is black and discrete. Funny thing about the Sigma is that all of the other pros I tend to bump into on jobs are all suitably impressed with it irrespective of brand, canon or nikon.

Pete.
