I have heard that the bokeh on this lense leaves a bit to be desired. I would imagine it would be better at longer zoom range. Does anyone have any experience with it, or could post some sample pics?

Cheers :)

At f/4 it isn't easy coming up with good bokeh regardless of the lens, but here is an example from my portfolio:

It looks fine to me, but I'm only a beginner. I've read great things about the lense though.

Thanks for your replys!

I noticed that the 24-105 (love the lens in general) bokeh is not as 'pleasing' as my 24-70L. Hard to say why? And I am not comparing f2.8 to f4 here either. When you see gorgeous bokeh eg 70-200 f2.8...you just know it is exquisite! But you can't have it all...all the time!

Good bokeh or bokeh at all? At f/4 I can get bokeh from 70-200. Heck, I can even get pretty nice bokeh from my 17-40L. I'm sure a 600/4 can definitely get a lot of bokeh.

But good bokeh != how much background blur there is. Good bokeh = how good the background blur is... =)

That said the 24-105L looks pretty good from the shots!
