Just got the lens today, took Canada Post long enough.

I haven't been able to get out and take any shots because of the damn rain (see my rain thread), but I did play around with it a little bit.

I must say, this lens has the PERFECT weight for a lens of its size. I am so glad I didn't get a 2.8 version, because I feel so comfertable with this lens. I supose the 200 2.8 would be a good chocie for me because it weighs in similarily and is pretty cheap.

Canon EOS 30D, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 105 Macro, 135L, 430ex, Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, Manfrotto 3001pro w/486rc2 and 804rc2 head, Manfrotto 681 w/ 3232 head.

Nice choice... get some inside shots done. It's a perfect lens for portraiture....

Praise the Lord....finally we can get you off this line yakin'......hopefully now you'll get that camera/lens crackin'.;)

Congratulations Jaggedy, use it in good health, as MD JakAKA Dolt's mother used to say.

Thanks Petkal :). We now REALLY need to get together. I want to go to the zoo, but the weather is crap. Perhaps we could go out and I could borrow some of your weatherproof lenses? :).

Pete, my house is a mess, can't do any indoor shooting in here.

No IS, but I don't see how I'de need it. I'll have my primes when I want to shoot low lighting, and plus, it's 200mm, nothing I can't handhold pretty well, and with a monopod I could probably do almost as well as with IS.

Like Petkal says. I'm no stinkin shemale who needs IS. (Well, don't quote me exactly for that, I'm sure he used a little bit of different wording.)

Post 1200. Here's to around $1200 spent on my tripod, monopod, and 85 1.8 + 70-200 F4L.

Canon EOS 30D, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 105 Macro, 135L, 430ex, Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, Manfrotto 3001pro w/486rc2 and 804rc2 head, Manfrotto 681 w/ 3232 head.

When it gets colder a bit so we can see the end of this rain, your father, you and I should hit the Toogood Pond in Unionville or something like that, one sunny weekend.

I hope you are talkin $1,200 canadian there. Also, do check the lens real good, as we discussed previously. Also, see what your dad has to say about it.

My dad, pfft, he's the last person I'de tell I got new lenses. My mother is my buddy in these purchases, haha. As far as my dad goes, when he asks, they are on loan from a friend like everything else I buy :). It came out of my money anyway and I'll be making up the money with some PS3 profit.

I checked the lenses, look okay, might be a little scratch, but I can't say for sure very well because I don't have a good light to reflect them into. I don't see anything in my photos though. A little bit of dust in the front element, but that should be able to be cleaned off.

Yes, that is Canadian. Manfrotto 3001pro + Manfrotto 681 + 486RC2 ball head + lowepro mini trekker.

My dad has little interest in photography. Not sure if he'de want to stay and just walk around with us or what though.

It is a great lens and it is a great value. To be able to get an L lens for under a grand is a steal.

weird looks?.. hmm.. I don't get weird looks. I get curious looks... but, i've long had this theory that women can shoot in public easier than men.. folks aren't as suspicious..

Hey, don't worried, I'm not that uptight about my age.

Sara, let's just say that I'm young, and there aren't many photographers my age out there with 1. such a great interest and 2. carrying around such elaborate tools (gear.)
