Asked my parents and they cant even remember where it came from...but anyway its all metal. and build quality wise it woops my kit lense and my 75-300mm ultrasonic. Anyway it obviously doesnt mount on my camera, but maybe its worth something? can anyone help me out?

I wouldn't start planning how to spend the money ;) Old FD lenses, apart from a few less common ones, are worth very little. This is a shame as I still have a dozen or so, along with 3 bodies, from the good ol' days.

You're right, they are more solidly built. All of mine have been dropped, often from height onto concrete, several have dents (two won't take filters anymore because the front end is so dented) but they all work perfectly. Back then I didn't worry about being careful, the gear was cheap but tough and just soaked up the treatment.

Modern gear is so complex and the lenses are packed with electronics and motors, which were never a feature of the old stuff, they cost several times the old FD costs (in real terms) but are much more prone to damage.

Errm yesss, and you have to turn the barrel ring to focus it too

This is ancient technology, the photographers had to do things for themselves back then. :)

haha sorry for my ignorance guys, but i never shot a 35mm. And i just got my rebel bout a month ago. To bad its not worth anything, im still amazed at how solid and sturdy this thing is. I wish my 75-300mm was like it. I just feel more confident when everything fits all nice and tight with no slack. anyway thanks!

If it's the one in the pic, it's a front cap. The back ones are a lot thicker and have no pressure releases in the sides.

Very similar, but not the same lens. I see that he is asking 10 bucks for it and, with 1 day to go, he has no bids. Like I say, these don't fetch much

Looks like an old FD lens. I still have a 70-210 f4 zoom very much like it with the lovely DOF scales like that. Hah the days of all metal lenses...

Looks like my 70-210 FD mount lens. I still use mine on my FD cameras. It's a very nice zoom.
