Amazing Eyes

This is a picture I did recently. I was struck by the amazing eyes of this model and had in mind to do a B&W photo with a Sepia tone and leave the eyes in colour with boosted saturation etc... as it turned out I didn't have to make any changes to saturation of the eyes at all.

It's the first time I've attempted a picture like this.

I used studio lighting with 1/125 sec exp at f11 using 70mm.

C&C very welcome

Nice picture! Yes, you have to love the eyes!

Yeah they are something else. I thought she was wearing contacts. Turns out she wasn't. Lucky Girl.

She does have neat eyes but this image is dark, seriouisly underexposed. And the overall tone is funky...don't care for the color.

Thanks for the C&C guys.

Not sure I agree that the picture is 'seriously' underexposed although I agree it is dark. It was designed to be dark for a moody Halloween set but I concentrated on the skin lighting which I think is OK for the effect I had in mind. Maybe it could come up a few shades but I think overall I got the effect I was looking for. It was a dark background and of course she has dark (black) hair which either adds to the moodyness or makes the picture look dark.

As to the colour, yes it's funky and agree not to everyones taste. I did go for the funky look hence the eyes as this is not meant to be a normal portrait, more of a 'picture'.

I do appreciate and take on all comments though so I will as a matter of course play around with the photo in it's raw format and bring up the exposure and see how it looks.

Thanks again.

Stunning eyes - what, as far as C&C goes, all I could say based on what I first noticed, is I would prefer it to be less heavy on the lipstick and eye shadow - I find it a bit distracting, especially how far over to the edge of her face you can see the eye shadow on her left eye. But maybe that's just me, as I'm not always a fan of makeup. Hope you didn't mind me saying! It is a bit dark, but an excellent eye, for uh, the eyes! :D

Hi R.ticle One

Thanks for the C&C. Yes the lipstick is a bit heavy I definitely agree on that and after the previous comments I am definitely going to bring up the exposure a bit and see how it looks.

I was actually shooting a halloween set (check the post in this forum called Halloween shoot with 3 models) and this one was a cheeky close up as I'd just put the long lens on to get in close on something else.

It was after that I thought of creating this picture so wasn't planned as such.

Thanks again for your comments.

Pas de problem! Yes, now I see some of the spontaneous halloween-ness of it. ;)

approx 10 seconds in CS2... (auto levels in fact) just to see how it looks as I knew PS would bring up the lighting.

How does this look now?

Titus213, I'm coming round to your way of thinking I reckon having seen how she looks lightened up a bit. I'll spend some more time on the RAW image and try again.

She would take that as a compliment... very much a 'Goth'.

THanks for looking.

Hey guys,

Would appreciate some more C&C on the second image. I think I might have overdone it a little (too bright) what do you think? ... but... I do agree now that the first image was too dark.
