Shooting in RAW mode, and using some upsizing software like Genuine Fractals, how good can a print of this size be ?

I don't have my D30 anymore but had no problem printing 11x15 using Photoshop (6) or Paintshop Pro, the latter usually gave sharper prints. You can also use Fred miranda's sharpening actions. Usually I just used the Unsharp mask at the end of enlarging.

I have a perfectly acceptable 20" x 30" print from my D30 that I did as a test of the capabilities of the camera, my processing and the printer.
As far as I can recall, I upsampled in 10% steps to twice the size/resolution required, sharpened aggressively, then downsampled in one step to the finished size before sending off for printing.

Yes, it is. You can even print much, much larger than 11 x 15 inches. Look at this: http://www.nyphotographics.com/blowupsample.htm (external link)

You can download Photoshop interpolation actions here: http://www.nyphotographics.com/ftppage.htm (external link)

I tried the nyphotographics actions in Photoshop, Genuine Fractals as well as the upsizing in 10% increments trick that Scott Kelby says is great and haven't found any of them significantly better than resampling in one step in Photoshop. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for any help you can give.
