How do the pros shoot in portrait orientation with a 300 2.8 or 4002.8?

I notice that the camera rotates while the lens stays fixed to a monopod. What am I missing?

Tripod ring lets you rotate it.

yes, the monopod is attached to the tripod ring, and you just loosen the ring and turn the lens. works on your 70-200 aswell.

But make sure you extend your monopod foot to the ground. Some guy that photographs for the canes just figured it out. I want to save you from that hardship!! :):)

Ive posted today about lubricating the ring on my sigma 120-300 lens
as its a bit stiff and if I slacken it all the way the lens has too much play
but dont think the replies really understand what I was meaning
