Aside from the wide angle I use just primes. I wouldn't hesitate to use only primes if I was carrying around two bodies.

But zooms have a unique capability related to composition and perspective. When I am shooting landscapes I move back and forth until the foreground and background elements are in the proper composition and perspective relationship. Then I use the zoom lens to get the proper framing for my shooting position. With primes I would end up having to crop alot when I need,say, 68mm focal length and had to shoot with a 50mm prime.
