My 50/1.4 lives on the camera when I'm indoors. Outside I tend to zoom though.

Primes and zooms are both useful tools with different pros and cons. I don't see myself using only primes even if I am drawn to them for their speed and image quality. My ultimate intent is to add a 5D and 24-105 to my kit. I would cover up to 400 with f4 zooms and compliment this with a fast set of primes, 30ish, 50, 85, 100 macro and others as money allows. The zooms sure are convenient for walking about but you just can't beat the primes for portrait shooting or where a foot zooming and time to set up are no problem. -JIM-
