I know many are against them.
Those of you who spent the big bucks to get a fantastic lens...and bought a UV filter to protect it.
Which one is the absolute best quality?

6D, 60D, Various L and non-L Lenses and more gear than I have time to use. ;)

I have a Hoya Pro 1, looks pretty good, just waiting for the lens to come this afternoon.

B+W MRC and Hoya Pro-1 or Hoya S-HMC (black label) on my glass. Never found fault with any of them.

Agree with above. I have Hoya and B+W, was recommended to me here, is a little pricier than others, but never a problem. I just cleaned my clear Hoya today. When you buy a $1000 lens, it's really silly to put anything in front of it (besides the model). But for days like we had this weekend, windy like crazy, it's silly not to consider putting a good filter on the expensive lens.

Ditto. I was amazed at just how clear and how little light was refracted by this filter vs. my Canon 77mm L-39 sharp cut filters. The B+W are worth the reputation.

I use UV filters only when im going to be in an area like the beach...

80% of the time, I just dont use filters.. Its the "best" picture quality ur gona get. Just use a hood.

I dont like lens flare, + most lenses have some for of UV coating on them anyways. (if you are looking for UV filtering)

One thing i do belive in is a damn good circular polorizer.

which one would you pick.. Their almost the same price but I dont know if either one offers something the other doesn't.. Im really just looking for one good protector filter for my Canon 10-22,24-70 f2.8,70-200 f2.8 lenses. Ill be off to Hawaii so I know i'll be around sand and water quite abit but i'll also be using it at the drag strip..

Im also considering getting a CIR polorizer so if you think I would get more use out of that and still use it as a protector then let me know.

my vote for filters are the B+W MRCs.

With a Circ polariser you have to remember that you loose a stop of light aswell as getting the polarising effect, therefor its not something i would want on the lens at all times.

know what you mean. i could sell my UV filters alone and buy another lens :D. but i really have found them to be of great use to me. especially since i shoot a lot out in the boat in saltwater conditions, and in rain sometimes for sports.
