Thanks, does anyone know if they all come with the F-PRO mount or are their different version. is thier a OLD/NEW version or is this a newer filter that THE STANDARD is the F-PRO??

DISC:
Filter factor is 1.0.Compared to the earlier B+W standard mount, The B+W Standard Filter Mount F-Pro has been improved considerably. While maintaining the excellent quality of materials, fabrication, and high mechanical stability, the new F-Pro mount has become thinner, so that now it can also be used on many wide-angle lenses without the danger of vignetting. Another advantage of the new F-Pro filter mount is its modified retaining ring, which is no longer threaded in from the front, but holds the filter glass in place from the back. This prevents the retaining ring from being accidentally loosened during the removal of an additional filter or a lens hood that has been screwed in too tightly..

Sounds just like what Heliopan did - they made a lot of their filters "slim only" since they have threads on the front (to stack another filter or *use your lens cap*) - something some other manufacturers do NOT offer in their slim filters.

Their is some one not to far from me selling a new one for $50 but he can't tell me if it has the F-PRO mount.. I'm trying to make sure that it comes with this mount so I don't have a problem using it with the 10-22.. And if they all come with this mount then this would be hell of a deal and I would only have to purchase one. Thanks to Canon for the consistant 77mm..

If it is the slim version, that's a darn good deal.

Canon is good like that - many L zooms are 77mm and many L primes are 72mm. :)

I don't worry about B+W. I just trust them Hoya, you need to be careful that you get the higher end. But B+W are all higher end.

And I wouldn't use a polarizer as an everyday filter unless I was always out in bright sun - anywhere less optimal you lose 1-2 stops of light when you can least afford it. I use UVs all the time unless I need a polarizer; then the CP goes on as the UV comes off.

That's the one to get. It's what I have in front of my own 24-70/2.8 and what's on the 70-200/2.8IS I borrow. I cannot see any degradation from these filters. Best prices for these are at maxsaver.net

All my F-Pro filters are marked right on the ring edge of the filter. It should be easy to tell. If it's not marked, it's probably not and F- Pro.:o

At what point do you have to get the slim B+W filters? I have the 24-105 and 17-40 I want to fit the B+Ws too, and intend on going full frame soon as well (5D). I would be pretty certain about needing a thin filter on my 17-40, but what the 24-105?

the feeling i get from this thread is some folks believe that if you buy the most expensive UV filters you'll get the best results.

i buy the hoya pros myself and i think a 77mm filter runs me about $35.
