Plus, you're getting this lens to be a wideangle - so why not go as wide as you can? You're not getting it just to link smoothly with your above focal range.

Yeah, I see. I still don't know which one is best suited to me, but the Sigma build does look like it would be suited for me the best as the Tokina looks millitary rugged-like. I'm not about to buy for at the minimum another few weeks so it doesnt matter. Canon EOS 30D, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 105 Macro, 135L, 430ex, Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, Manfrotto 3001pro w/486rc2 and 804rc2 head, Manfrotto 681 w/ 3232 head.

The canon is built like a consumer lens - it feels lightweight and not especially durable. Optical performance is OK, but having had a 17-40L I was not satisfied with the results from the 10-22mm. I sold it earlier this year. A few months ago I picked up the Toki 12-24. This is a world of difference. Build quality is much more like my 17-40L was and the optical performance is really good too. I found it a much nicer lens to use. Plus it is a constant F4 as agains the variable on the Canon and F5.6 on the Sigma. Hm, that's good to hear. Did you miss the 2mm on the wide end? I only used my Tokina 3-4 times total and am thinking of selling it to fund other lenses ![]() I've had my Toki since May, and I agree, it's certainly not my "workhorse" lens. In fact, other than a few photos of my home interior and test shots, I've probably only used it less than a dozen times.

The distance from the right end of the island to the window at the left of the photo is 24 feet/7.3 meters. The distance from the front of the lens to the window in the center of the frame is 33 feet/10 meters. By the way, if you look closely at the chairs near the window at the left, moderate CA is evident. I want to use it for taking weird approaches to things, getting down low, doing landscape shots (wish I had it when I went to the Cn tower, of course it wouldn't matter as I forgot my cf card) and that type of stuff. Perhaps you remember the title of the thread or something that could help me search for it? BTW, it looks like I'll be getting the Sigma 24-70. For some reason as much as I'de prefer 12-24 to continue the focal length I feel the Sigma builld is less millitray like and I should stick with sigma for that combo. What do you guys think? If I have one Sigma lens (24-70) should I get another Sigma to cover the wider part that it isn't covering? I have a 70-200 F4/L for my longer range. Huh, I found them. Here they are: 20D/BG-E2/Katz Eye | Tokina 12-24/4 | 24-70/2.8L | 50/1.8 Mk I | 70-200/2.8L | PD70X
