I've had someone give me an EF-S 18-55mm Kit Lens, but my camera is a 30D which uses the EF lenses. Can I use the EF-S lens on my Camera? If i mount it and try it, will it cause damage to the 30D? BillS

Oct 30, 2006 09:20 | #4 That is what I thought too, but got some info from the Web that made me ask the question. I was looking at the Canon Lens Description for the 18-55 EF-s at the Precision Camera website, and it said "EF-S Mount for Rebel and 20D" . I guess they just did not update their site info since the 30D came out. Gear List

First, read your manual, it would have told you that you could use the lens. Second, don't trust everything you read on the web. Find some good reputable websites, such as this one, and the official Canon sites when you are looking for information. Canon Rebel XT & BLACK POTN Strap

Don't know why it took this long for someone to post this. Canon 7D & 40D | 17-55 2.8 IS | 28 1.8 | 85 1.8 | 50mm 1.8 | 70-200mm 2.8L IS | 580EX II, 430EX |

I had a good laugh at the Rebel XT price on the homepage. Moral of the story, always do your homework. Thanks all for the great information.... Gear List
