One thing,

Have you considered the Tamron 17-50 F2.8? as when I read up on this lens it looks pretty good, it appears to be sharper than the Sigma when wide open, & its F2.8 at all focal ranges, but of course you pay for that improvement, you lose on the zoom end & the macro side isnt anywhere near as good.

After seeing the MTF results on that lens it got me wondering if I made the right decision with the Sigma, but when I tried limiting myself to just 50mm I did miss the extra 20mm the Sigma gives, not to mention the close focussing.

Im moving in January down to Cornwall (more expense!) although its a vast improvement to where I am at the moment, when I was down there the other week looking around I was in the country, pulled over & had a bite to eat & took a few pics (infact that gate photo I showed you was down a country lane), I managed to get a closeup of some wild berries, this is where I was thankful of getting the Sigma, there is no way I wanted to change lenses just to take that one shot!! then change back again, what a hassle for just one closeup photo.

:-)
