The sky is very dynamic and I could stand to see more of it. My only other cc is that the sun is centered but I guess when you're only getting it for a few seconds at a time, you take what you can.
Overall, a very nice shot.

Thats the story Robert, lack of time mate, especially when you are trying to balance the tripod on these rocks.

Great work D i m i t r i _ the light hitting the foreground round is perfect.

Cheers Toney.

Very nice. I wouldn't change a thing. I've been thinking more and more about getting a GND for they give such a wonderful look.

Highly recomended, never leave home without them.;)

No advice here! This shot is very nice...
This is one of the few photos I think I've seen using a 5-stop ND grad...two grads stacked together I'm assuming?

Thats very correct,2 stacked, the DR was far too much to cover with one.

rudgej wrote in post #2194141 (external link)
I think your composition has worked very nicely. By catching the low light and throwing much of the midground into darkness, you've emphasised and highlighted for the warm light on the main foreground rocks which in turn lead you into the photo and onto the warm colours of the sun.

Exactly my thoughts John,thanks buddy.

Haha, my name is actually Erik, John Muir is the person who said the quote in my sig. I can see how it could be confusing though. And I always make it a point to view your threads.

A lovely image, Dimitri. Glad you managed to get some sun. :D All we've got is flooding, landslips and saddest of all, a huge number of uprooted trees :(

Love it Dimitri. I even love that tiny lens flare (I presume that's from the Lee filter?)
By the way.... a single LEE filter or two (0.6 + 0.9?)... soft or hard?

My only criticsm would be that I would have like to have seen more of the sea and the effects on the shoreline. Maybe try moving those rocks forward next time, haha ;)

Two grads Adam,a 0.9 hard and a 0.6 soft, very harsh conditons to get the sea in the frame.
I`ve got some of the sea action in another post coming up with title...Dunnotar castle.

You caught the light on the rocks nicely, I remember you saying at the time :)

As for your Macro shots, you also know I had a sneaky wee peak at some of them on your website, naughty boy !!

I was very close to buying the 100mm Macro this week, great looking lens, I however decide on a new tripod/ball head instead, too many blurry shots from that weekend with my last tripod

The usual fare Dimitri :) You always produce outstanding shots. Love the detail of the foreground in this one especially. Did you wait longer to get a shot after the sun went down the horizon as well?

Very clever move,go for it,the best buy ever, and you will not need to upgrade either, you buy it once and thats it.

It was a sunrise Daman, before and after that moment, the light was just dreadfull,it only lasted a few moments.

What I am wondering about is that Dimitri has a photo of mine on his website (I'm a pro from Oregon in the US) that he has displayed as his own. I'll persue this all the way if that image is not deleted real quick. It was stolen off the FredMiranda site,

Mark

Wow, you sure about that? I would be VERY surprised if that were true (in the way you are presenting it), especially considering he would never even NEED to steal someone else's photo in the first place.

If you are a pro from the U.S., can we see your website to verify the alleged theft?

There must be a simple explanation. He's got your photo in a temporary folder and by no means does it look like he's passing it off as one of his.

Perhaps he plans on using it for a tutorial and just hadn't contacted you for permission yet?

His usage of the image is at http://www.dvattika.com …yimage.php?album=76&pos=8 (external link)

Where it was taken is fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/469963

Dude keep your hair on ;)

If Dimitri was here to explain things I'm sure it would have went something like this.............

I checked your thread over on FM , Dimitri kindly suggested a different crop of your shot, to display his version he's hosted the file on his webspace.

I hope you understand where I'm coming from.

Cheers Scottie
