I like the photo, but maybe that's because I'm less attune as you might be, so please elaborate as to why this is a non keeper.

Apart of the far bg (mountains/sky) that are not well detailed/expossed,the rest of the picture has nothing of beauty,old roof tiles and the next door washing line.

On the other hand,if it was the honeymoon couple in the frame,even if it wasn`t well taken,it would be worth while saving the shot,THAT i do understand.

Again i`m sorry if i offended anyone.

Thanks for all the replys! It seems I have a lot to learn in photoshop (layers, colour curves, etc)

I chose this image because it was very flat looking, but as I said, I do like it. We had just had a meal and some mojitos at the restaurant, and I had got up to check out a small cast iron spiral staircase that led up to the roof... Then another small staircase led up to another small rooftop, where I took this picture.

I've attached a few more pics from my honeymoon for those who are interested :)

In all honesty i don`t understand why you would want to save a picture like this but anyway,non of my business,here is a link (external link) for photoshop how to PP.

It was his honeymoon for Christ's sake! Maybe the view was from his hotel room or something. Give the guy a break. In anycase, it's not such a bad shot.

Hi DanAus1983;
For what it's worth - I actually thought your shot had some merit... (I already posted some suggestions...) It shows a true local scene to where you were...
Anyhow, Cuba is on our list of places to visit - before Castro falls over. It sure looks interesting; and I hope you enjoyed your honeymoon. That's a hell of a long way to travel from down-under...
Cheers;
Lee

Thanks for your comments Lee, Cuba is an amazing place, I think you're right on track about getting there before Fidel goes. I would highly recommend it.

Thanks for your comments everyone regarding the rooftop shot, I certainly haven't taken the criticism to heart. I know it isn't a fantastic shot, I chose it mainly because it came out looking so flat. I do like it myself though, especially after some of the re-touches. I think that having the washing and broken tiles in the foreground against the palm trees and church is very representative of Cuba - poverty and run-down cars and houses, surrounded by friendly people, fantastic music, and of course, great cigars!

It's all a learning curve, I've learnt a lot in the last couple of weeks that I've been here.

I would appreciate any comments on the other pics of Cuba that I posted (I think my self-esteem can handle it :p)

Th pther shots are very nice as well, but a little desaturated. Boost up the color and apply a little USM and they will give a even nicer POP!!!

Thanks, I'll have a crack at it. They're just straight from the camera. It's amazing what a little touching up can do (from what I've seen), even if it's fairly subtle it can have a huge impact on the photo overall...

I'd just like to second this, apart from the memories this shot obviously holds for you, it to me shouts Cuba.

I've got no problem with the critic given by Dimitri, that's half the beauty of photography. We all see something different. If we didn't all our partners would look the same, lol;)
