When I look at those photos the lens looks much larger than it feels when I am holding it. I guess it is a pretty good sized lens (I had a 2.8 to compare it to when I received it). It is very comfortable to hold though, I really like the smaller diameter. I have fairly small hands, but can easily pick up the setup (70-200 f/4 on 30D). -Ryan
