My EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS lens is starting to do this more and more. I half press the shutter to focus and the IS system goes mental. It just buzzes and shakes like crazy in the view finder. If I let off the shutter, it stops and then everything works like it should again.
This happenened about 5 times during my wedding on Saturday, but still worked great for over 500 other shots.
It is my workhorse lens for sure, I love the sharpness I can get with it, especially for hand held portraits in lower light.
Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this with this lens or any other IS lens.
I have 5 weeks off from weddings right now, and I am contemplating sending it in for repair, just not sure I could get it back in time.
I have three weddings in Dec-Jan, then about 5 months off right now, so perhaps I should wait until I am done those and then send it in. It still has warranty until June next year.

. I'd definitely send it into Canon for a check up.
