why do her eyes and part of the skin look ashed out? Did you have to use auto fix or auto levels?

I agree about the eyes ... it looks like it was a bit underexposed. What drags my eyes is the cover she is sitting on. She has nice dark hair, with a dark outfit, and a dark background. That cover is for a hi-key or pastel session. If it was a dark cover it would be so much better.

this was the original, i think it's too bright, but i didn't know how to really fix in in PS...

You have image editing set to ok, so I gave it a shot... first I cropped to a better angle, then I did an auto fix, burned the eyes to be darker, selected eyes and mouth and applied a slight stronger saturation layer and played with the levels a bit until it looked the way I wanted

Cute baby girl and nice shot overall. I agree that the original was a tad too bright.

Only picky thing i can say is, her face seems too soft. focusing on the "eyes" is key!
