Hi Neil;
I prefer your original post to the addition; it has lots of beautiful detail, and is nicely composed...
Did you do any HDR or other image merging work on that?
I can't make up my mind if it's too clear for a single shot...

No, I don't go for HDR, not my thing. I am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to compsure and filters but obviously see the need for post. It was a dull (dark) day hence the frame was pretty evenly lit. I also use shadow/highlight tool when it is needed, to balance things a little (but can easily be overdone and cause noise and artifacts). I did use an ND filter here to increase exposure, and the obligatory CPL!
