Hello, all.
Simon is a good friend of mine. He's an internet whiz kid, and ordered a shoot to me, because some specialized magazine is going to publish an article on him..BUT..he also wanted some to send to dating sites.. " I want to look cool ..not nerdy", as he put it.
I did my best. What do you think ?

Regards

The pictures were executed nicely, but the actually poses look too posey. I don't know, he just looks like he is trying too hard. Not natural at all.
Photography aspect was executed nicely though.

In my opinion the first and the last photo are good, but
the hand in the pocket is not very aesthetic. The pose in the third photo is a little bit forced for my taste. But the lighting is very good. Regards

They are not too bad at all. In pose #1 , his hands are not posed well at all. It would have been a bit better if his head was tilted a bit away from his lead shoulder. The background is too dark. A medium grey would have worked well.

Pose #2 ... Good, except for his front hand looking too big. Crop it off and it would work well.

Pose #3 The background is out of key, with his jacket. A pastel, or mid-range bckgrd. would have been better. There is a lack of light in one eye. And the shirt is wrinkled.

Pose #4 Again, lack of light in one eye and the shirt is wrinkled.

It's a nice series for what he wanted.

Thanks a lot for the comments.
I must tell you that Simon is hyperactive. He had to get up from the stool and walk around for a bit after EACH shot. In his words...these are the best photos he has ever had !! LOLOL

What do I think ?? I think if he was a friend you would have fixed him up with one of those super models of yours!! that aside, I'm sure the ladies will be all over him! I'd use the last shot for the dating site...most open .........

My break down

1 is the best of all IMHO. The lighting is awesome here.

2 Is not a good pose for me; i am not too fond of the fact that his face is hidden from us.

3 is a bit odd with one hand in and one out of the pocket. Also his expression is a bit dull.

4. is my 2nd favorite but his elbow is cut off. not really a major problem but a bit distracting to me.

All the pictures have AWESOME lighting!!! Very nice job for your buddy there!

He still has one more move.

I think most of the shots are far too posed for my taste. I feel the last photo should be used for the dating site as it's the most casual photo and the closest he came to a smile.
I must commend you on the awesome lighting for each shot.

Last time I was in the del Rey I had to beat the girls away with a stick, didn't need any photos. LOL Nice work, as always.

Very nice lighting.

The first thing i noticed is that his pose has him appearing to lean back slightly in each of the photos, seeming to want to keep his distance from the camera (and eventual dating site viewer). IMO, he would look more approachable and engaged with the viewer if he was leaning forward just a tad, shifting the weight off of his back and more onto his thighs (or front foot if he was standing) with the back straighter.

Again, just my novice opinion as I'm not accustomed to evaluating guys ;)

They are all good shots. I don't care for some of the poses all that much.

I like the light in #1 but his eyes look like he might want to switch to decaf. Your comment about his activity levels shows in this shot, a problem with highly motivated people I would suspect. I would crop just above his hands in #1, just below his right hand in #2, at his left elbow in #3 & #4.

For the dating service I would pick the last one. He looks relaxed, easy going.
