Wahoo- just invested in my first umbrella..I got two- but on these I used one. Background isn't perfect...impromtu shots. Learning... critique please (on lighting aspects...not on clothing :) my poor guy...the outfit nicely defines his baby tire.

I used my 420EX with a 60" shoot through. My 580EX was on camera bounced.

In my opinion in the first photo there's not enough light on the left side, that's a pity because the girl is beautiful, in the second onethe lighting is fine but a closer photo but be better. Regards

I like the 1st pose and disagree with the previous post. There is enough light on the left side ... a very nice Rembrandt lighting. It just had to be enhanced to bring that out.

I hope my pastel background at least shows you how a lighter background would have been much better.

I love the second one exactly how it is, I think the lighting is great.

I really like the first one, there's something about the lighting that bothers me, but I'm not sure what. Maybe that the background is so uneven?

They are very cute pictures and kids! :)

Good work on the lighing shutter mom. The boys cheerfulness is well captured. Think what may be bothering people about the first, is that her face seems to have a bit of a hot spot on her face. May be just her light complexion, But it may help to feather your main. Good thing about the shoot through is that it spills light out the side also.
