But if I'm at 55mm and my read-out is telling me the shutter will be 1/15s on a static object, it would be foolish for me to assume that the photo will come out crystal clear. It's easier for me to switch on the IS and let it do its job. Julian

The zoom sticks just a little bit around the halfway point so it does not alway turn smoothly. In other words, it tends to feel a little tight in places when zooming a small increment at a time. I tested a brand new one at the store recently and I noticed it did the exact same thing so it seems to be a common build issue and not just my copy. I'd take the 16-35 over this lens any day despite the lesser range. --Peter
