@Judsonzhao, did you find the 24-105 too limiting on the wide end?

exactly
but the focal range is great..24 105 also has good build quality..
need some time to try 17 55 to tell which one i love more

Welcome Antonio, very nice first entrance. I like the mood of the streets with the church at the background. Is this in Andalucía?

WOW, very nice, I also own 550D. I thought my body is too cheap for this lens. Now i think 550 can produce very nice photos, if paired with solid glass. Are they HDR?

Hi my friend,

they are not hdr. I used lightroom 4's highlight, shawdow, white and black to bring out the overexposed/underexposed portion :)

Thank you for liking my photo. the 550D sensor is essentially the same as the 7D if it helps comfort you.

Although 17-55 rocks, its always the photographer who makes the photograph! given the 18-55 kit lens, the same 3 photos can be made

Friends,

I recently went to Europe for a 40 day trip and took all my equipment with me. I brought with me a new 10-22mm which I used often (trying the lens and also having fun with the UWA) but the 17-55 was still my primary 'weapon'. It also was my carry-on lens in places where the bag was not allowed but the camera was, like inside some museums.

I brought back around 6500 (I deleted many of them during the trip) and I am still going through them, but I wanted to share some of them here, as this truly is a spectacular lens!!! I love how it is a most useful focal range but it also allows for heavy cropping if the situation calls for it. I must say though, that, for the first time, I had some issues with flare on the lens and kept changing to the 10-22 on certain conditions. It can be interesting, but if you want contrasty back-lit images, this lens can really post a problem!

That said, it is so fantastic I feel bad saying anything negative about it, so here are the pictures, hope they speak for themselves!

You can click on each image to go to my website and read a bit more about the monument or place and sometimes some discussions into the photographic techniques. You can also check on the photos taken with other lenses.

Hope you guys enjoy them,

Best regards,
Rafa.

Out of interest did you use a tripod for any of these shots? Maybe the first two?

Thanks @nikmar08 ! I'll try to share the few remaining cities.

@hazwing, I brought a ridiculously small tripod with me (a Sony, the samllest type) so I was not able to use it at all... no use whatsoever! So, there isn't one tripod shot from my entire trip (well, one, of a guy that lend me his at one point :) ). That said, those fist two where with the camera resting on a surface. The first one on the Umberto I bridge ledge (with several other dozens of photographers doing the same and several street vendors trying to sell us tripods LOL! :) ) and the second one it was resting on small grass garden. Yes, those are long exposures for certain ;) .

Thanks again,
Rafa.
