I've been shooting with primes a lot lately, so thought I'd dig out the 17-55 again. Here's one I took yesterday.

Aridan, I'm sorry but that baby looks like the Michelin Man....Seriously, what are the parents feeding him?

a lot of babies go very tubby before they learn to walk and burn it all off. just depends on their genetics.

Just got my 17-55 today..yay!
Can anyone tell me if the hood is designed to fit on the lens backwards when not in use? I had a bit of a play but can't get it to hold on and I don't want to force it in case I scratch my brand new lens...especially if it's not supposed to go on like that. First day of shooting with it tomorrow so hope to have something to contribute to the archive soon.:D

LOVED that first shot of little Ava..adorable! My nephew had more rolls than that and by the time he was three he had lost it all. We used to call him the Michelin Tyre man too and joked that it was hard to tell with roll was his elbow! She is an adorable baby and I let out an AWWWWW!!!! when I saw that pic. The black and white looks great!

Congrats on the lens - it's great and I'm sure you'll find it will live on your camera.

The hood goes on backwards for storage no problem. (echo in here)

I know she looks like the Michelin man... or maybe the Pillsbury guy... :D

We aren't feeding here anything out of the ordinary, just some formula and oatmeal. :)

I'd like to think that my daughter is healthy. And as somethingsimple said, they burn it all off once they start walking. My wife used to be even chubbier, and she is now 5'7" weighing 115lbs :D

Wasting time in the backyard, farting around with f2.8. Very clean.
You can also notice Canon's lovely handling of the reds...

I love the contrast, colors, and saturation that this lens produces.

theres two dots on the hood: the filled-in one is the one you line up with the red dot on the lens when the hood is in use, and 90 degrees around, the hollow circle is the one you line up with the dot on the lens when it is reversed

make sure it's on level then twist clockwise til it clicks

you are talking about the genuine canon hood arent you? initially i bought a much cheaper 3rd party hood but it didnt fit right and wasnt very solid when it was on - also it took a while to actually get it to go on. so that went back and i got the real thing.
