So my girlfriend and I are going to NYC on Friday for free, thanks to our college. They are basically letting us run wild, meaning Heather and I can do whatever we please. We just have to be back by 8:30, or else they leave without us.

I've been to the city many times, but usually with my father so I follow him around. Can someone recommend some good sites for us to see? I've never really done this myself before... And I'm only 17. :p As a photographer, I'd like to go to some locations with good photograph potential, but that's not too important.

I believe the bus is dropping us off in front of the Museum of Modern Art...

I think theres a WPPI Photography conference going on. Might not be up her alley, but it would be really cool to go to.

The MET/Modern, Times square, statue of liberty/elllis island etc. lots to do and see

the Met itself is a nice place, it is 'in' Central Park, the Empire state building os in 5th ave between 33 and 34 street. do you have a map of the city? that would be the first thing to get and map out where you want to go. Get to the end of Manhattan and take the Staten Island Ferry, you'll get a great view of the city and see the statue of liberty too and its free.

There's a huge photo show going on at the Javits convention center. Free shuttle bus back and forth from B&H which is three blocks away. I went today. It was great.
