Olivia Newton-John @ Penn's Peak, Jim Thorpe, PA...11.01.06

Olivia Newton-John, sings oldies but goodies and newest releases to a full house of applauding fans...the show lasted well into the evening...I was able to get these photos from my front row seat, while singing and applauding too... The lighting was real tricky, with large spot lights, color stage lights and custom set light beams, constantly moving and changing colors.
Please advise on post processing of these trimmed pics.

i might just switch it out with another image for best presentation...I'll end up matting the best ones and framing and hanging them up at home as usual...

Some singers are real hard to catch with their eyes open.

I like 5 and 7 best.

Nice work!

Thanks for the critique Curtis,

It was a matter of choosing the most representative photos of a very beautiful woman... approx. 50/50 of the photos of Olivia Newton-John, were with open eyes...based on lighting, under exposure and over exposure, I decided to include an equal balance of both...

Nice set, John. Would be nice to get a wide angle shot in there. If I get too many from this angle I get criticized for "shooting up the nose" ... but when the nose is this pretty what's the difference? :-)

Holy cr*p, she's still singing... Good to see that! Does she have a schedule online somewhere?

Ironically, NBC's "Dateline" had a story on her ol' boyfriend Patrick McDermott last night.

Nice shots.

#4 is the nuts. #5 is nice but I think it would look better with cropped the spotlights out.

oh Sandy, baaaaaaabbyyyyy!

Thanks Dwight, your feed back is always appreciated...

That wide angle shot is escaping me lately...I would have to stand up from the front row, and walk back in front of the entire audience to get the shots...I'm considering the 24mm 1.4L for that purpose...however, it's the cash flow that will determine that...

I knew, "the up the nose" item would come up...you brought it up in a previous thread post or two...I was hoping to get some feed back, actually from you, regarding the up the nose deal... It was a last minute judgment call to include that photo...Of course, there is no harm with a pretty nose, this time only...

Tonight, I should bring back a good set of photos of Travis Tritt...since it's a country act with a guy on stage, I could probably sneak back, for a cup of coffee and a few wider shots...

Nice shots.

Dynamite voice...She hit every high note right on target, and sustained the notes for a very long time, just as if she's twenty years old...She's an absolute pro at what she does...a Great Show...

She'll be at Harrah's in Atlantic City, NJ and in Las Vegas in two weeks, plus several stops along the way...

Absolutely nothing was said about her missing old boyfriend by anyone at the show...maybe probably best, that way...

Thanks for the feedback Simon SE15...

RE: #4, It's about as nuts as I went for her voice at the show...what a great stylist she is...and it's all original work too...

I see what you mean about the spotlights in # 5...I tried it with the all blue back ground, a couple of times and for some reason ended keeping the lights in...Let's see if we get others to go for the simply blue back ground...I'd be game to change, and will consider it again...let's see what happens...

Thanks for the info! I see she's going to be very local soon:

November 8, 2006 - Westbury, Long Island, NY - Westbury Music Fair

I've been a fan of hers since the late 70's and early 80's... Grease, Xanadu... I remember once back in the 80's seeing a band perform covers of her songs at Disney World's Tomorrowland.

I know. ;) Thanks!

It looks like they don't allow "professional cameras" at the venue though - even "disposable cameras" are somewhat frowned upon. Bastards. $61+ per ticket, too.

Nice. See needs to open her eyes a bit more though.
I like the spotlight in #5, but would crop a bit from the lower end and right (yust a few mm). That way the dark folds in her jacket are gone, and she has a bit more room 'in front of her' relatively. (If you have a version with a bit more left and bottom, that might be an option as well...)
