Buy the complete Madonna back catalogue - increase her wealth and allow her to adopt a bunch more kids. An economist calls that wealth distribution. ;)

As soon as I actually make a respectable sum of money from my photography alone, I'll buy lenses and keep them. That said, my 100 macro, my 20 1.8, and my 70-200L IS have never left me, and never shall (except maybe the 20, if they come out with something better). I like primes an awful lot, and if it weren't for the versatility of zooms, I'd have only primes, for IQ and aperture reasons. That said, if I get into doing more portraits and studio work, I'll grab a 24-70L. With strobes or flash, it just plain kicks a**.

I'd buy Xmas gifts for my children and perhaps the 50mm f/1.4 for me.

I'm sorry, and as selfish as it may sound, there's just no way I'm giving all of my money to kids in africa. I actually worked to get this money. The day I get a large sum given to me, I'll donate some. I don't make enough money to be giving it away. I have no life. I have to at least have toys. ;-)a

Sounds nice. No kids for me, though. I've 4 nephews, but I only see one "regularly". The others I see every couple weeks. 50 1.4 sounds like a plan. Then grab a 5D at the steadily dropping price they're at, and you've got one hell of a combination!

ever considered giving 1% of your total expenditure on gear to charity every time you buy something?

Don't you already have a 5D?

ING.com 4+% intrest rate for a savings account :)

I get 5.25% at my CU, so just send me the $600 and I'll hold it till it doubles.

Yes, I have a 5D. What has that got to do with anything?

Ron, go for the 85L.

That way when you feel you need to sell it I can take it off your hands for a heavy discount.

Have you ever known me to sell anything at a discount? See, that's the thing. Sometimes I have great prices. Sometimes they're a bit high. However, they're always fair. Fair to me, and fair to the seller, which is the way it should be.

I think the 85L is the way to go. I may grab an 85 1.8 to use while saving, but I'm liking the idea of the L. If I see some impressive results from the 50L, I may sway that way, but it'll be one of the two.
