Just buy a copperhill kit like me Dan... you'll want to clean your sensor every night anyway. ;)

Whats with all this sensor cleaning on the 5D? I have read this a lot, how many 5D users have this problem?

It is the biggest dust magnet of all the Canon DSLR's I have had. I have never cleaned the sensor on my 1DMkII despite using it in all weathers with lots of lens changes whereas I must do the 5D evvery 3 or 4 shoots and primarily it lives in the studio with the 28-70 2.8 on it.

Anyone else has this problem with the 5D?

Not me. It's no worse than my 20D or D60. The environment you're working in makes more differnece than the sensor. Of course with 2.5x larger sensor, you've got 2.5x more area to collect dust, but even so . . .

That's what I was thinking... I would guess that if you compare a 20D 11X14 print with a 5D 11X14 print, with dust showing and not cloned out, the dust will appear more "concentrated" on the 5D image because the sensor is larger (and the image is not). I would very much doubt that it "attracts" more dust than the 20D or 30D.

It'll also be somewhat less obtrusive, as the same size dust particle will be affecting fewer sensor sites. 2.5x the area, 1.5x the sites so each pixel is 60% bigger.

Hi folks !
This is my first post here. I got my 5D yesterday . My photostore let me choose between 1DMkII and 5D for the same price. I chose 5D - but from what I read here ... Maybe I should go back to the store to pick up the 1DMkII too ?
Thanks for all the good information you give !!
Espen.

well get whatever serves your needs. although in the usa, the 1d2n new is worth more than a 5d, up to a thousand dollars when factoring in rebates etc. so you could buy the 1d2n, sell it new and get the 5d with a L lens. In theory

This is not the "N"-version; this is the 1DMkII ... I know it is a more expensive camera; but I've been so impressed by the 5D picture quality that I just have to have one. But interesting thought; having a 1D2 too - and selling it ?

Its new. The store "cleaned up" the backoffice some weeks ago - and found several cameraes in all sorts of places. They showed me the "track record" of the camera in their databases. It arrived the store in January 2005 - and was after a while registred as missing / stolen.
It comes with full warranty and original boxes. So what do you think ?

New, that would be a great deal. Right now, low $2's is the asking price for a 1DMKII with about 10k-25k. So new should definetly give you some profit.

Also, its a great camera, so if you were to keep it, you wouldn't be sorry.

And as long as they're giving you a "new" receipt... you can always send it in for free repairs if something was wrong.
