Enroute to the apple growing capital of China in Northern Shaanxi Province, our bus stopped for an early morning bathroom break. This unfenced cemetery was less than ten feet away from our stopping point.
Suggestions welcomed.
Enjoy!

There are many different forms of Chinese Burials. I am far from "expert," but we have seen a wide variety of their practices in the past year. This was the graveyard of a small village. It is not unlikely that everyone in the village had the same ancient family origins, and it is in a farming area. The fact there are gravestones generally suggests a measure of prosperity. In farm areas burial is in the mound. Those with a traditional Chinese Religion background include as part of the mound a "portal" of perhaps two feet in height and width, with a curved arch, usually of adobe or red brick, through which the spirit of the dead can pass. I did not enter the graveyard to see if there were portals. 1D Mk II N, 7d, 100-400 IS "L", 70-200 f2.8 L, Sigma 10-20, 50mm f1.8, 24-70 f2.8L, Lensbaby, 430ex, etc.
