Hi. Recently I purchased a used 300D with a grip. I was worried because I bought it from a pawn shop on eBay, but it's 100% fine as far as I can tell. Very clean and very few scratches. The flash is also great.

My question is, how do I hold it? I think I know where my right hand goes and how it should hold the camera. Where does my left hand go? Around the lens? Around the grip? Where does my pinky finger go?

Can someone post pics of yourselves and your hand positions with a grip?

Thank you so much. First post!

Well, I don't have any photos of me hold the camera with the grip - but what I do is put my left hand on the lens (zoom and focus ring), and use my right hand to hold the grip. You have to find your own best way to hold the camera and grip.

Hi and welcome,
Not sure if the 300D grip is anything like the 10D grip but this is how I normally hold my grip: thumb near the AF point selector button, index finger on the shutter release button and the other 3 fingers wrapped around the grip. As for my left hand I have it on the lens for zooming in and out.

Hope this helps.

I guess you could say there is no correct way to hold the camera with grip.

Just hold it however you feel most comfortable.
The grip definitely makes it fit better in the hand in my opinion. I had a 300D and one of the first things I bought was the grip and when I recently upgraded to a 400D I ordered the grip at the same time.

I second what Skids said, "I guess you could say there is no correct way to hold the camera with grip."

Try different holds and see what feels most comfortable. The more comfortable your hands are the less shake you'll get.

I find that the holds vary depending on the lens but mainly the lens rests on the left palm with fingers around the zoom ring for control.

there is no set way of holding it. hold it which ever way you feel comfortable with it.

in terms of your left hand, that'll most likely depend on the lens attached, but for for me, if its a zoom lens on, then i'll turn my palm over and cusp the underside of the lens. to get extra stability i'll bring my elbow into my chest so that my forearm becomes a prop for underneath the camera to help it stay still.
